The Planetary Research Cooperative is governed by a board of directors that is elected by the association’s members. The board of directors is responsible for managing all financial aspects of the association and its technical infrastructure, overseeing all non-editorial functions of the association, and enforcing the association’s code of conduct. The board of directors appoints the editor-in-chief and editors of the Planetary Research editorial board.
Board of director roles
The board of directors is composed of six members elected by the association, the editor-in-chief of the journal Planetary Research, and the heads of any subcommittees created by the board. All board positions are for a term of four years. Following each election, the board will designate a president, a treasurer, and a secretary. The president is responsible for setting the board’s agenda, organizing timely meetings, and holding an annual general assembly that is open to all association members. The president may appoint one additional board member, if desired. The treasurer is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the association, and the secretary is responsible for all internal data archiving and communications.
Elections
Six members of the board of directors are elected directly by the association’s members for a term of four years. Elections are staggered every two years to replace three outgoing members. Anyone who is a member of the association may self-nominate for an open board position, and any member of the association may vote.
Code of Conduct
The Planetary Research Cooperative is committed to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone regardless of gender, disability, physical appearance, body size, age, race, religion, or other protected status. We do not tolerate harassment of members or participants in any form. The association expects that all members, editors, authors, and reviewers will abide by our Code of Conduct, creating an environment free from harassment, discrimination, disruption, incivility, or violence of any kind. We expect participants to exercise consideration and respect in their speech and actions and refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior.
